A tranquil osteopathy treatment room in Bristol, photographed in realistic detail, with a neatly made treatment table covered in crisp white linens and a soft grey fleece blanket folded at the foot. The room features pale sage walls, light oak flooring, and a single framed abstract print suggesting a spine without using text. A large window reveals a soft-focus hint of Bristol townhouses and greenery. Diffused natural daylight fills the space, creating gentle shadows and a calm, clinical yet welcoming atmosphere. Shot at eye level with a wide lens, sharp focus throughout, emphasizing cleanliness, professionalism, and patient comfort in a modern, independent practice setting.

Osteopathic Care

Independent osteopath now working
at the Family Practice on Gloucester Road in Bristol
with a whole-person approach to healthcare
to help ease pain, restore movement,
and support long-term wellbeing.

About Mala Balani

Mala Balani qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 2004 and is an experienced osteopath with more than 20 years in clinical practice. Much of that time was at The Chandos Clinic in Redland, and with the clinic downsizing, she relocated to join some of her former colleagues from the Chandos at The Family Practice on Gloucester Road in Bristol.

Mala takes a whole-person approach to healthcare, helping patients understand the factors that influence their wellbeing and supporting them to move towards better health at every stage of life. She has a particular interest in maximising “health span” – increasing the number of years people can enjoy good health, independence and vitality so they can continue the activities, relationships and interests that matter most to them.

Alongside hands-on osteopathic treatment, Mala is passionate about exploring the wider influences on health, including nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management and lifestyle factors. She directs much of her continuing professional development towards understanding how these elements interact to support resilience, healthy ageing and long-term wellbeing. She is a qualified Yin Yoga teacher and an active gym-goer, and has experienced herself how our capacities and needs evolve as we mature.

Mala enjoys working with adults of all ages and aims to provide thoughtful, personalised care that empowers patients to take an active role in their health. Her warm, collaborative approach helps patients feel listened to, understood and supported as they work towards their individual goals.

A close-up, photographic realism image of an osteopath’s workspace corner in a Bristol clinic, showing a smooth wooden desk with a model abstract spine composed of curved white ceramic segments, alongside neatly stacked navy-blue patient files without readable text. A stethoscope-like metallic tool and folded cotton towels rest nearby, hinting at clinical care. Soft overcast daylight streams from a side window, forming subtle highlights on surfaces and a gentle bokeh of a leafy Bristol street outside. Shot from a slightly elevated angle with shallow depth of field, the mood is professional, ordered, and reassuring, suggesting detailed assessment and thoughtful treatment planning.

Services

Osteopathy is a gentle hands-on treatment to address all kinds of muscular-skeletal symptoms arising from either injury, use or age and is suitable for all ages. It can help improve recovery and increase ease and range of movement leading to an improvement in daily activities and well being.

During your appointment, Mala will seek to gain an understanding not just of the current symptoms but also any past health issues or injuries as well as lifestyle factors which may be contributing to those symptoms. She will create a treatment plan to address your symptoms and your longer term goals for your health, which may include specific appropriate exercises to support the hands-on treatment.

More details about the types of conditions treated can be found at the website of
The Family Practice, where Mala works.
